Salt Lake City, UT (June 8, 2022) 4Life recently hired a new R&D scientist: Ruofen Liao. Her responsibilities will include researching and formulating products, substantiating claims, and drafting relevant technical documents.
Liao has worked as a dietician assistant and a microbiology lab technician. She also worked as an undergraduate research assistant for Brigham Young University where she studied pathogens in low-moisture foods, particle analysis of contaminants in infant formula, and vitamin stability in dairy-based foods.
Liao also completed graduate research at Brigham Young University where she completed her thesis on plant-based butters and foodborne pathogens, mentored other students, and assisted in teaching an undergraduate course: Essentials of Food Science.
Liao has presented two papers at meetings for the International Association of Food Protection (IAFP). She presented a poster in 2019 and another poster at a virtual convention in 2020. She will have another paper presented at the IAFP annual meeting in Pittsburgh later this year.
Liao: “I love helping my family and friends understand what food science is, and I also love debunking food myths. It’s one of my goals to share my passion with as many people as I can!”
Vice President of Product Development, Dr. Lawry Han: “Ruofen’s unique background and experience make her a great addition to our R&D team. She has a great personality and is easy to work with. I am excited to have her on the team!”
